10 wonderful Jimmy Webb songs

Jimmy Webb is one of my all-time favourite songwriters, having written hits for Glen Campbell, The 5th Dimension, Richard Harris and many others. His songs have been covered by an incredible amount of great performers, and celebrating his 66th birthday I have picked ten Jimmy Webb songs that show his genius. One of them is performed by the man himself, as he's recorded a number of fine albums on his own. And know this: These 10 songs are only the tip of the iceberg.

Glen Campbell - "By The Time I Get To Phoenix"

Scott Walker - "If Ships Were Made To Sail"

Radka Toneff - "The Moon's A Harsh Mistress"

Richard Harris - "MacArthur Park"

Dusty Springfield - "Magic Garden"

Jimmy Webb - "Paul Gauguin In The South Seas"

Rumer - "P.F. Sloan"

Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings & Kris Kristofferson - "Highwayman"

Linda Ronstadt - "Adios"

R.E.M. - "Wichita Lineman"
